Aspen Land Group Inc. is a small environmental consulting company specializing in environmental management and permitting of aggregate operations, disturbance to wetlands, and surface water. Located in Edmonton, Alberta, we have been providing consulting services to the Alberta aggregate industry for more than 15 years and offer a dynamic work environment that encourages and supports the growth and development of our employees. We’re seeking an energetic and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Summer Student beginning in May, for a 4 or 8 month term.

Key Responsibilities
• Assist with environmental field assessments including but not limited to pre-disturbance soil and vegetation assessments, wetland assessments, and detailed site assessments (soils and vegetation)
of reclaimed sand and gravel pits.
• Assist with the preparation of regulatory authorization applications and reports under the Code of
Practice for Pits, Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act, Water Act, Public Lands Act, and municipal bylaws.
• Organize and compile field data for entry into electronic format.
• Assist with environmental desktop searches.

Required Skills
• Strong vegetation identification and soil classification skills.
• Enrolled in a college or university program related to the environmental field.
• Competency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Professional.
• Familiarity with Drafting and GIS software experience is considered an asset.
• Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work in a team environment or independently with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to work outdoors and out of town for short periods (less than a week).
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license, with experience driving a 4×4 truck.
• A positive attitude related to Health and Safety.
