Aspen Land Group Inc. is a small environmental consulting company specializing in environmental management and permitting of aggregate operations, disturbance to wetlands, and surface water. Located in Edmonton, Alberta, we have been providing consulting services to the Alberta aggregate industry for more than 15 years and offer a dynamic work environment that encourages and supports the growth and development of our employees. We’re seeking an energetic and enthusiastic individual to join our team who can fill the Junior Technologist position on a full-time permanent basis.

Key Responsibilities
• Prepare report figures and drawings, surfaces, site plans, cross-sections, profiles, and material volume calculations using AutoCAD and/or GIS software.
• Understand, manage, and maintain plan content, layers, and line types with AutoCAD.
• Fly an unmanned aerial vehicle and process flight data.
• Assist with site reconnaissance and/or surveys.
• Assist with the preparation of applicable technical reports and regulatory applications.
• Assist with the completion of field data.
• Work closely with other environmental specialists, mining engineers and drafting personnel in a team environment to ensure project objectives are being met.

Required Skills
• Be a graduate from an applied science, engineering, or information technology program accredited at the technologist level by Technology Accreditation Canada (TAC) or equivalent.
• Be registered with the Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta
(ASET).
• 2 to 5 years of experience with environmental related projects.
• Previous experience working for mining and/or land surveying companies is considered an asset.
• Fluent skills and competence using AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Word, Excel and Adobe Professional.
• Knowledge of GIS software, Global Mapper, and Pix4D is considered an asset.
• Fluent knowledge of geospatial data, coordinate systems, surveying, and township systems in Alberta.
• Ability to work with large data sets, process, and work with UAV datasets in AutoCAD to produce figures and drawings.
• The ability to multi-task and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work in a team environment or independently with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to work outdoors and/or travel out of town for short periods (up to 5 days).
• Willingness to assist with field work such as soil, vegetation, and drilling assessments/sampling.
• Knowledge of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. Holding a Drone Pilot Certificate – Advanced Operations is considered an asset.
• A positive attitude related to Health and Safety.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
